Hello... is it me you're looking for?

Other things have been going on other than just concerts, dinners, visitors from far off places, etc. There has been much activity in the studio also. My work over the last six months has changed quite a bit. From pure abstract to a more figurative and image based type of picture. I finally got bored painting the abstract pictures. There were too many rules. Self-imposed rules that I thought I had to follow in order to get the image I wanted. I thought if I was bored painting them maybe they were boring to look at. I decided to paint a picture like I used to draw when I was a kid. When there were no rules. So I just painted things I was interested in. I like the new direction. It is more personal. There is more of myself in the work and it makes for a more coherent picture.

These pics are not pro so they are small and bad but you get the point. The top one is the last abstract one I
made followed by the first two of the new. The second is complete and the third was just finished so I do not
have a picture of it. Just wanted to give a little hint to what I have been up to. I like it.
Oh, one more thing. About three weeks ago I was doing the dishes and got a phone call from someone not
on my contact list. Usually I do not answer and wait for message. For some reason I picked up. It was a
curator I had a show with this past March at the Black Walnut gallery, 220 N. Aberdeen Chicago, Il. in the meat
packing/gallery district. He invited me to be in his Fall show. Fall shows are good, start of the season and all.
Anyway, I have never been invited to be in a show. I have always applied. It is much more fun to be invited
than to apply. Much less work which is key.
If you want to see my work live and in technicolor come to the gallery on Friday the fifteenth of October
between five and eight in the evening. I have five pieces in the show and there are four other artists there also.
